Meet Allard Structural

Miles C. Allard, PE, MSCE

Miles has experience in structural design and detailing of residential and commercial structures. He has designed and managed projects including:

  • custom single-family residences,

  • multi-family apartment and condo complexes,

  • commercial facilities, warehouses, and

  • ancillary structures (retaining walls, screen walls, and swimming pools)

Utilizing a variety of building materials including dimensional lumber, engineered wood products, masonry, concrete, rolled steel, and light-gauge steel.

He has designed the following types of structural systems and performed construction phase observations to verify plan compliance for:

  • steel,

  • masonry,

  • wood and concrete superstructures,

  • conventional and post-tensioned ground supported foundations,

  • conventional and post-tensioned elevated foundation systems,

  • pier-and-beam foundations,

  • masonry and concrete ground-supported or elevated retaining walls and screen walls, and

  • ground supported or elevated pools.

This design experience has given him a greater understanding of what is required during the design process so he can effectively evaluate structures for construction and design defects, along with natural perils.

He has completed forensic investigations and authored reports concerning:

  • soil-structure interaction,

  • performance of structural systems,

  • evaluations of building envelopes, and

  • determination of causes, origin, and extent of peril damage.

He is an ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade 1 and has a Level 1 Unbonded PT - Field Installation certification.
